Dear Church Family, I wish I had more of the story telling gifts of Jesus. When he wanted to make a point, he had a way of using an illustration from everyday experience—sometimes common, sometimes unusual—in way which connected with his hearers. Story telling was a way of engaging them to not only to learn about God, but also to consider their personal response to the challenge of the story. We call those stories of Jesus parables, of course. I hope many of you will be able to join us for a study of 12 of Jesus’ parables during the course of 4 weeks. We’ll meet on Tuesday afternoons, beginning this Tuesday, March 15 from 3-4 p.m. in Miner Hall. The information flyer is again attached this week. It was great seeing so many of you attired in purple, the color of Lent, marking repentance. The sermon for this 2nd Sunday in Lent is “Tough and Tender” and the lessons are Joshua 1:1-9 and Luke 13: 31-35. See you in church. Don’t forget –Daylight Savings Time begins this weekend. Set your clocks ahead. Less sleep. Agh! Peace and Joy, Rich
