Dear Church Family, We returned on Tuesday from a wonderful family trip. We got to have dinner with Toby in Winchester on the way down and back. The time in Tennessee went well. The three girls, ages 8, almost 4, and just turned one, were fun to be with. They each have their own personality, interests, and style. Josh and Liza were able to get away for a couple of days to celebrate their 10th anniversary. Our time alone with the girls went smoothly, although we came home tired! But being with them was the best medicine, and they were very cute in their attentiveness and concern for their “Pop-Pop” in light of some of my mobility issues. And it was a special joy to see the older two sing at the closing exercises of their Vacation Bible School and in church on Sunday. We had a chance to listen to last week’s very moving service and were touched deeply by the prayers and expressions of love and support. This week we observe Remembrance Sunday. This is a long-standing church tradition in which we remember and give thanks for those loved ones who have died and joined the communion of saints in heaven. You have received the letter from Frank Hadsell and the Trustees indicating that monies received as memorials will be used for the long-needed repair and repainting of the sanctuary windows. The sermon will be based on the lectionary reading from Romans 5:1-5. The title is “Boasting About God.” The Old Testament reading is I Kings 19:8-15. See you in church. Peace and Joy, Rich
