Dear Church Family, One of the blessings of having the service last week on Saturday was it enabled Liz to be present and play for us. I was glad we were able to show our appreciation for her in person. She is a real gift to our congregation. She is enjoying a well deserved vacation this week but recorded our music in advance. Music itself is one of God’s great blessings. I value the time of reflection each week listening to our choir sing God’s praises with such enthusiasm. As you know our Tennessee family is here for the better part of two weeks, visiting us and the other grandparents in MA. The girls really enjoy music. They have been trying to teach us a song that is apparently making the rounds in their part of the country, called “Church Clap.” It is lively music, and full of spirited motions (including the clap under the knees) which give a good aerobic workout. Lynn did great, though I’m a little slow to catch on. I noticed most of the people on the instruction video we watched were a good bit younger than us---so we may not be trying this out in Falls Village. But It is wonderful seeing the kids—and their parents—having fun with Christian music. We’re back to regular schedule this week. The lectionary reading is the story of Mary and Martha (Luke 10:38-42) and the Old Testament Lesson is Genesis 18:1-10. The sermon is “One Thing is Needful” See you in church Peace and Joy, Rich
