Dear Church Family, A church member suggested that she would be interested in doing a study on prayer. I remember being taught that you could tell more about a person’s real religious convictions by the way they prayed than by any other aspect of their life. Surveys say a far higher percentage of people pray than either read the Bible or come to church. But for what do we pray and how? What does prayer “accomplish?” How is God at work in prayer? All important questions. A study on prayer this fall or winter is a good idea. But it got me thinking about the prayer Jesus taught. It doesn’t seek to answer all those questions but rather provide a model. So, for the months of August and September I’ll be doing a series on the Lord’s Prayer. We begin with the disciples’ request which provides the sermon title, , “Lord, teach us to pray.” The texts are Psalm 143 and Luke 11:1-13. We’ll also be celebrating the Lord’s Supper. See you in church. Peace and Joy, Rich
