Dear Church Family, I’m experiencing another milestone in my life this week. From Wednesday-Saturday I’ll be attending Yale Divinity School’s Convocation, a series of continuing education opportunities, AND my 50th reunion (actually 50 plus 1—I graduated in 1971, but Covid prevented us from meeting). I’m the co-chair of the reunion committee which has been working for nine months. We’ve already had some preliminary events and have produced a book of class memories. It has been fun to reconnect and learn the journeys of class members. God has led us in a variety of directions—not always in church careers—and many of the stories are quite moving. I look forward to the learning and conversation that is ahead. So, I’ve had to get worship prepared early this week! We’re back in the lectionary readings from Luke. The texts are Genesis 3:1-13 and Luke 14: 1, 7-24. The sermon is “Sending our Regrets.” We’ll be singing again the new hymn we learned several weeks ago, “For Everyone Born.” Now that the tune is familiar, I hope you’ll be able to focus on the beautiful text, which fits so well with this scripture. This hymn has already become one of my favorites. See you in church Peace and Joy, Rich
