Dear Church Family, We are on the road again this week, visiting Josh, Liza, and the girls in Apison, TN. They keep growing up each time we see them. Christie just finished 3rd grade, and the other two girls have birthdays in June, Emma turning 5 and Genevieve 2. They have an incredibly active household, and the parents keep very busy with work, parenting, and an active social life. I find myself wondering whether we ever had that kind of energy when we were their age. It is a lot of driving, but it is good being here. We will stop to see Toby on the way home. Sunday is Pentecost, the birthday of the church, marked as that time fifty days after Easter, when the Holy Spirit descended upon the church to build community and provide energy for mission. Red is the color of the day, reflecting the description of the spirit coming upon the church like rushing wind and tongues of fire. Plan to wear something red. We will sing three songs reflecting on the Spirit. The texts are the story of the lst Pentecost (Acts 2:1-18, 37-42) and John’s account of Jesus breathing the Spirit on the disciples in a post resurrection appearance (John 20:19-23). The sermon is “Do We Still Have a Dream?” See you in church. Rich
