Dear Church Family, We had a wonderful time in Southampton, NY last week participating in the installation of my colleague as pastor of the First Presbyterian church. It was a great celebration and it was fun seeing some longtime friends. But it will be good to be back with our Falls Village church family on this 4th Sunday in Lent. The sermon is “Bright Light in the Dark Night” and texts are Numbers 21:4-9 and John 3:1-17. Don’t forget that Daylight Savings Time begins this weekend, so turn your clocks ahead. We will receive the one Great Hour of Sharing offering on Sunday. I hope you will read the bulletin insert about the work this offering supports. It is the most widespread and well-established ecumenical offering, and the monies are used effectively. The offering supports disaster preparedness and response, refugee relief, food insecurity and clean water resources domestically and internationally. Lent is a time when we focus on the centrality of the cross. I’ll be leading a two-week Bible study focusing on the cross and what it means to say “Jesus died on the cross to save us from our sins.” The class will meet from 2-3 p.m. on Wednesdays, March 13 and 20. A flyer is attached which gives some details. I look forward to seeing you in church on Sunday. Peace and Joy, Rich
