*Paul, a great missionary, is often viewed as founder of the church
*Galatians is considered one of Paul’s most important letters, in which he tries to lay out central teaching of Christianity
*Central focus on the relationship of Jews and Christians, law and gospel, faith and works, the freedom of a Christian
*Includes important biographical information about Paul
*Martin Luther considered Galatians central to his efforts at reforming the church
